Super Eagles star player, Victor Osimhen, has acknowledged that he will likely experience strong emotions when departing from Serie A club Napoli.

Naija Latest Gist understands that the Nigerian footballer is anticipated to move on from the Serie A champions this summer, although his next destination remains uncertain.

Osimhen’s contract, signed in December, includes an approximately €120m release clause.

He has earned a special place in the hearts of Napoli supporters after playing a significant role in their Serie A triumph last season.

Scoring 26 goals in 32 league matches, the 25-year-old helped Napoli secure their first league title in over thirty years.

Osimhen expressed his admiration for Napoli fans, considering them among the finest in the world, and mentioned that bidding farewell to the club will be a challenging task.

“For me it’s a fantastic feeling, in some clubs it’s the history that creates the identity, in Naples it’s the fans who make the team what it is.

“The way they support the team and each player is truly incredible,” Osimhen said during a recent interview with Betsson Sport.“Sometimes I understand why some legends of the past cried when they left Naples, because it is an extraordinary emotion to play in the stadium and hear your name shouted from the first minute to the 90th, supporting the team and cheering,” he added.

Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Kelechi Iheanacho is not likely to follow Leicester City back to the Premier League ahead of the 2023-2024 season.

Kelechi Iheanacho who was regarded as one of the most promising footballers in the world, especially after winning the 2013 Under-17 World Cup for Nigeria, moved to Leicester City on August 3, 2017, after failing to impress Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

After signing his initial deal with Leicester City in 2017, Iheanacho renewed his contract with the Foxes on April 3, 2021. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t help the one-time Premier League champions to remain in the top division a season later.

When the club suffered relegation at the end of the 2022-2023 season, most pundits predicted that the 27-year-old striker would leave the club for a greener pasture especially because he had just a season left on his contract then.

However, that didn’t happen and he followed Leicester City to the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Fitness issues forced him to play as a second fiddle at the club.

Kelechi Iheanacho contributed 6 goals and three assists in 25 games in all competitions as he helped Leicester City return to the Premier League this season.

Amid that, his contract with the club will expire on June 30, 2024, which means that he has less than two months to either extend his stay at the club or move to another as a free agent.

Soccernet reported that Leicester City have tabled a contract extension offer for Iheanacho but the Nigerian striker turned it down.

The proposed deal will reportedly earn him £65,000 per week but it seems the highest-scoring African player in the history of the FA Cup has other plans for now.

The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta is hoping that his major Premier League title contender, Manchester City, will drop points for his team.

The 2023-2024 Premier League title race is now a two-horse race and the battle is between Manchester City and Arsenal.

The 2023-2024 Premier League title race is now a two-horse race and the battle is between Manchester City and Arsenal.

This means that even if Arsenal win all their remaining games, they can’t win the Premier League title this season unless Manchester City suffer at least a defeat in one of their four remaining games.

Ahead of the Arsenal vs Bournemouth clash at the Emirates Stadium at 12:30 p.m. later today, Mikel Arteta said: “In my heart and my soul… this is what I am hoping for, yes.

“You know what is going on [with my emotions]. You just want to win and to win you need others to drop points and you are hoping for that to happen.

“And then [after City win] you have to manage your emotion because it doesn’t matter what happens on that day.

“There are still a lot of games and points to play for. You are going to have to perform, prepare and win the next match to maintain that momentum. This is what we are trying to do.”

Note that Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will also be in action against Wolves at 5:30 p.m. later today, May 4.

Former manager of Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has revealed that he has stopped watching the club’s games at Stamford Bridge and also the games of Benfica.

Jose Mourinho started his managerial career at Benfica in 2000 but didn’t stay there for too long before he moved to other clubs and then landed at Chelsea in 2004.

While at the Premier League club, he introduced the Stamford Bridge club to a series of successes and made them a household name in European football even though he didn’t win any continental competitions with them.

Mourinho first left Chelsea in 2007 and returned to the club in 2013. Unfortunately, his second spell which ended in 2015 was not as resounding as his first spell.

Despite that, most fans of the club believe the 61-year-old Portuguese tactician can fix the team which has been a shadow of its former self since last season.

At some point this season, the fans often chant his name during games especially when the team is losing a match at Stamford Bridge to influence the club’s owners to re-appoint him.

Mourinho said the chanting has discouraged him from attending football games at Stamford Bridge.

“In London, I live two minutes from Chelsea’s stadium, from my house you can hear the goals and people’s demonstrations”, Jose Mourinho told the Portuguese publication, A Bola.

“The day the stadium started singing my name, I stopped going to football. I have to go to other stadiums.

“It takes 20-30 minutes from my [other] house to [Benfica’s stadium] Luz. I went to two or three games.

“They started asking questions like [will you become manager] and I’m not going anymore. They screwed my life up with those questions.”
