“Olamide Baddo paved way for me” – Singer Portable recounts humble journey

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, professionally known as Portable, has expressed gratitude to rapper Olamide for his unwavering supports towards his journey to success.

Portable, who recently collaborated with British rapper, Skepta, on the hit single “Tony Montana,” highlighted Olamide’s significant role in elevating him from the streets to stardom.

In his recent interview with Afrobeat podcast, he shared a heartfelt message, underlining Olamide’s steadfast support and faith in his talent, which propelled him to new heights in the music industry.

The CEO of Zeh nation, however, recounted his humble journey while he was still a street singer, revealing that he performed for only N200 at event.

It is noteworthy that Portable rise into prominence with the release of his hit song, Zazu Zeh, which gradually won the heart of fans and quickly grew into fans’ favourite song’, all thanks to Olamide.

He praised the YBNL boss for giving him opportunities while many questioned his abilities.

In his words, “If not for Olamide, I would’ve still been on the streets. I went to London and collaborated with the best rapper in the UK and it’s all thanks to Olamide. When nobody believed in me, you told me that I was gonna make it and I’ve made it bigger than I ever thought.”

“Olamide is a boss, he sponsored me without signing me and never asked for anything in return and that’s why I respect him so much. Some people use me to do bläck business but Olamide is the only guy in this industry who showed me love.”

“Olamide paved the way for me, he’s my boss and God used him to bless me. I’m from streets and I’ve been through a lot but I thank God for sending Olamide to me. I used to perform for N200 before Olamide helped me and he didn’t rip me like most people do in this industry.”

“Paving the way for someone doesn’t only mean inspiring them, but it involves making things easier for those who come after you and that’s exactly what Olamide has done for a lot of artistes.”

Legendary Nigerian singer Terry G, has asserted that it is disrespectful to compare colleague, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable with him.

Portable is known to be thestreet boy hence many have likened him to the ‘Akpako Mast

er’ due to his style and the choice of songs he does.

However, in a post via X on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Terry G issued a stern warning against comparing him with Portable, claiming that people still listen to his songs after 10 years.

He wrote: “Comparing me to Portable is disrespectful because I have music people listen to 10 years later.”

After issuing the warning on his page, a fan commented under the post explaining that many call Portable street boy because of the level of his craziness. Terry G replied the fan, “He no craze pass me”.

Portable shows off new look after being released from prison, apologizes to Saheed Osupa (Video)

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has taken the internet by storm following his new look, making the rounds on social media.

Portable who was released yesterday following Saheed Osupa’s defamation suit shared a video on his Instagram story showing a noticeably different appearance.

It appeared that the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner had shaved his hair off, sparking widespread reactions online.

In another post, Portable tendered his public apology to Fuji star Saheed Osupa for his conduct so far.

Recall that Portable was charged with intellectual property infringement and defamation by Saheed Osupa’s management. The legal action, which stemmed from alleged rights violations and public misconduct, led to his arrest by the Kwara State Police Command on Sunday, April 13th.

However, he was released on Tuesday, April 15th after Osupa paused legal actions against Portable to the surprise of many.

Apologising for his actions, he wrote, “Alhamdulilahi for everything Big Thanks to all my lovers. ZAZUU am sorry for everything. If i do you bad ninu Ogun ni ogo wa. To those people outside there wey dey pray for me beg for me una too no go fall 00o. Only God I never see ogo ni mi God sent God love me I love you all ZAZUU Ono ope mi Opor OPF OPOR FAR Sope Por.”
