The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the club’s defender, John Stones will be sidelined until after the international break.

Apparently, John Stones won’t be able to play for Manchester City until after September 12 as the next international break is from 4 to 12 of September 2023.

Stones, 29, sat on the sidelines for City’s Super Cup victory and missed City’s opening two Premier League games because of a muscle injury he sustained during pre-season.

The injury could prevent him from playing for England in a Euro qualification match against Ukraine and a friendly match against Scotland during the break.
John Stones will also miss Manchester City’s next two Premier League games – against Sheffield United on August 27 and Fulham on September 2.

Stones’ injury came before Kevin de Bruyne underwent surgery for a hamstring injury that might keep him out of football for four months.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte will move to Al-Nassr and earn €20 million annually.

The defender is expected to sign a contract with the Saudi Pro League club that will keep him in the middle east until the summer of 2026.

Al Nassr paid Manchester City €30 million to complete the deal and the Spanish defender is expected to join the Saudi side after the completion of his medical examination in the coming days.

Laporte has been a member of Manchester City’s squad since January 2018. The Spaniard has 12 goals and 4 assists in 180 games across all competitions for the Premier League champions.
