“How I got addicted to hard drugs in 2020” – Timaya (Video)
Nigerian music icon, Inetimi Alfred Timaya, popularly known as Timaya has recounted how he lost substantial amount of money due to his addiction to hard drugs during COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
In an exclusive interview with Beat F.M, shared on the station’s Instagram page, Timaya shared his experience with the hard substance in 2020 lockdown.
Timaya, who has recently released his first single of year ‘Dey your Dey’, admitted that admitted that despite his imperfections, he has experimented in drugs in the past.
The father of two shared how he was introduced to Molly, a synthetic drug with psychedelic effects, by young boys, who he met during the lockdown and by extension, started living with him.
According to the music star, the Molly initially brought him happiness until when the drugs started showing adverse effects on him, like loosing weight, loss of appetite and financial struggle.
Acknowledging his past mistakes, Timaya admitted to regularly consuming three pills of Molly daily, equating it to medication.
He made it known that he later stayed away from drug, which inspired his hit song, Cold outside, featuring BUJU (BNXN) in 2021.
In his words, “I am not a saint. I have done drugs. Breaking off from drugs was a hell, it was a tough fight. I got introduced to drugs during the COVID-19 lockdown, in 2020. Everybody was home and there were those young guys in my house who were always so happy.”
“And I was like, ‘Bro, how are you guys happier than me? I am the boss, I got money. What are you guys on?’ And they told me that they got Molly.”
“When I took it, I did not understand myself. I was so happy that I dashed all the money in my pocket. So I wanted to just keep feeling like that. That was how I lost a lot of weight. I was not eating, I was just happy. How you go just want dey happy? You are supposed to, first of all, be happy naturally.”
“But when you now need substance to make you happy, it replaces natural happiness. So you have to be buying happiness.”
“When I said I was taking Molly, I was taking like three pills every day and it felt like medication.”
“I got kicked out of jobs, contracts… people I was doing business with did not want to work with me again.”

Nigerians have started expressing concerns as music legend, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, a.k.a King Sunny Ade, is declared missing by his daughter.
Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, the daughter of the music icon, took to her social media page to raise the alarm as she wagged the finger of accusation at his manager and stepbrother, Dayo Adegeye.

A video is making the rounds across social media platforms that shows the moment a Nigerian TikToker identifed as Disturbing passed away while on a live video.
Disturbing in the trending clip who is well known for always seeeking Justice for Mohbad was seen going through a seizure before he later died.
According to some social media users, TikToker Disturbing was busy cursing mama Mohbad, Adura, Liam and WUNMI on his live stream before the incident happened.
Sharing the video, investigative journalist, Temilola Sobola wrote; “A popular Tiktoker known as Disturbing who was also into JUSTICE FOR MOHBAD passed away some hours ago while he was on a live video…….”
