Ex-Napoli Forward Declares Victor Osimhen As Unskilled Penalty Taker

Former Napoli forward, Stefan Schwoch has described Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, as a player who is not skilled at taking penalties.

In the last two seasons, Victor Osimhen has proven to be the worst penalty taker in the Serie A currently.

In his last seven attempts, he has managed to score four which is the worst run for any playing in Italy in the last two years.

So far in his club football career, the 25-year-old Nigeria international has missed six penalties.

On Sunday, March 4, Victor Osimhen ignited the debate over his inability to convert penalties after missing a penalty that would have won the game for Napoli.

Fortunately for him, Giacomo Raspadori scored the rebound from Wojciech Szczęsny’s saved to secure a 2-1 win for Napoli.

Following the game, there have been a series of talks over Osimhen’s proficiency as many think that the Nigeria international has missed too many penalties.

Schwoch amplified that argument in an interview on the Italian TV program, Il bello del Calcio, but he acknowledged Victor Osimhen as a phenomenal player.

He said, “It’s impossible not to save it (Osimhen’s penalty), given his body posture. Three errors out of seven attempts from the spot are too many.

“There are phenomenal players who, however, aren’t skilled from eleven meters. Osimhen appears to be one of them.”

Shaibu Husseini, the Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), has announced that the Federal Government has approved the prohibition of depicting money rituals and glamorizing vices in Nigerian films.

Husseini disclosed this while speaking at a National Stakeholders Engagement on Smoke-Free Nollywood held in Enugu on Wednesday, May 22. The NFVCB boss emphasized that the prohibition of money rituals and glamorizing vices in Nigerian films has been approved by the Federal Government.

He said; “When my predecessor approached the former Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Muhammed on the need to make a subsidiary legislation to curtail the display of smoking in Nigerian movies, he saw the need to include money rituals. Others included in the regulation are ritual killings and glamourising other crimes in order to further sanitise the film industry.

Today, I am delighted to announce to you that the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, pursuant to section 65 of the NFVCB Act 2004 has approved the regulation.

The minister has approved the Prohibition of Money Ritual, Ritual Killing, Tobacco, Tobacco Products, Nicotine Product Promotion and Glamorisation display in Movies, Musical Videos and Skits” Regulations 2024.

We have also forwarded the approved copy to the Federal Ministry of Justice for Gazette.”

According to Husseini, besides the health implications, glamourising smoking in films poses a negative influence on teens and young adults who constitute the largest segment of Nigeria movie viewers. He said that the board was set to undertake detailed enlightenment programmes in secondary schools, tertiary institutions, local communities, faith groups and other institutions.

See reactions below;

saintavenue_ent1: Not a bad idea, but when them go ban looting public funds?

mz_bolajoko: But it is our reality, and the movies shows the bad end that comes with the rituals. How’s that a problem?.

obaksol: Oshey😂😂😂😂😂😂Hope they ban Looting of Citizens Funds too?

bright___:  Very good!! At least the illusion that money ritual can make you a billionaire overnight will reduce in our society.

iamninashai:  I think it’s a good move. Those movies portrait Nigeria and Africa in a bad light. Let’s be more creative and have better scenes.

princessdammy_:  Ban drug, corruption, money laundering, smoking, prostitution scenes too 😏.

iam_bmodel:  This federal government are always focused on things that are not important. So nah mountain Zion movies they want make we dey watch now?😏.

According to Slimcase, he didn’t make a clear-cut decision about becoming an influencer, rather he had found himself engaging in it.

Slimcase stated that he had studied how Don Jazzy had stayed relevant through the years, and got inspired to become an influencer.

He said:

“I didn’t decide to become a content creator/influencer. I just found myself doing it. As I was doing music and seeing trends online, I got inspired by Don Jazzy.

I looked at Don Jazzy’s way of life, from music to other things; how he has stayed relevant through the years and I was inspired. That has really helped me to hold my fans till the right music comes.”

Slimcase’s revelation is coming barely a week after Wizkid was bashed online for referring to Don Jazzy as an “influencer.”
