According to a report by Football Insider, Aston Villa are keen on having Marcos Acuna in their ranks and they are looking to close the transfer today. The 31-year-old full-back has been on their radar for a while, and they are pushing hard to strike a deal with Sevilla.

Acuna joined the Spanish club back in the summer of 2020. He has been a consistent performer for Sevilla over the years. The Argentine international has featured in a total of 125 matches and has been involved in a total of 18 goals.

Last season, he was involved in a total of 45 matches and was on the pitch for over 3,100 minutes. He ended up contributing towards seven goals. While he still has two years left on his deal with Sevilla, the 31-year-old could part ways with the club in the ongoing transfer window.

Aston Villa are interested in having him in their ranks. And, they do have a huge advantage in their pursuit as their new sporting director Monchi had signed the Argentine at Sevilla.

Villa manager Unai Emery’s priority is to sign a new left-sided full-back before the end of the window. He wants enough competition for the left-back spot. And, wants to sign someone who can compete with Alex Moreno, who is currently out injured because of a hamstring injury.

While they also have Lucas Digne in their ranks, his future at the club is uncertain. As a result, they are going hard to land Acuna at the club. The 31-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Villa as he is keen on joining the Premier League club. With personal terms sorted, Villa have been in talks with Sevilla as they look to strike a deal. The talks will continue as the English club look to finalise the deal today.

Meanwhile, Villa have already acquired the services of Pau Torres, Nicolo Zaniolo, Youri Tielemans and Moussa Diaby in the ongoing window. If they end up adding the Argentine international to the mix, they will surely be a force to reckon with in all competitions.
